Cuddle Fairy

4 months postpartum update

Hi everyone,

Oliver is now 4 1/2 months old (actually nearly 5 months old!) and he is doing great. He has 1 tooth through now and 2 more on the way. He hasn’t been too bothered with them apart from being very drooly so we are getting through lots of l bibs at the minute.

He is so close to rolling over, he gets halfway and then rolls back over but I don’t think he will be long before he is over fully 🙂

We are now weaning and he is totally loving it. He has 3 meals a day which consists of porridge in the morning and then fruity pots or powdered meals, 1 of his favourite ones is the Heinz broccoli and cauliflower cheese.

Oliver sleeps all night and has done for a good while now. He has a bottle and his tea at about 5-5:30 then he goes through till around 7-8 depending on how loud the other 2 are in the morning!

As for me I am doing good, Ollie is bottle fed so no problems with boobs apart from the fact they are now pretty much non existent which I am really not happy about and it is getting me down but there is really not alot I can do about it. I am currently on the hunt for a good fitting bra to boost my boobs and my spirits! If anyone has any recommendations please let me know.

Health wise apart from my gallstones everything is good with me. I am now on the waiting list to have my gallbladder removed which is good but also scary at the same time.

I have now been back to running for a couple of weeks now and am loving it and I also now have a runny buddy which I am really enjoying as going out alone can be boring when you like to talk alot like me!

I think that is everything for this update. I have also uploaded a video to my YouTube channel which you can find here if you would like to take a look on YouTube and I have also added it below.

Thank you for reading and I will talk to you soon. I am now hoping to post alot more regularly and have 4 posts going up every week so please keep an eye out for those. 2 of them will be uploaded when youtube videos are uploaded and the other 2 will just be blog posts, I am just trying to figure out the best times and days for me to upload that work well around my family life as well.

If you haven’t already please follow me on Twitter and Instagram and I have also just set up a Facebook page too and I would love to see you over there 🙂

Speak to you all soon

This Mum's Life

Oliver’s 10 week update

Hi everyone,

Oliver turned 10 weeks on Friday so I thought I would update you all on how he is doing.

He had his first lot of injections nearly 2 weeks ago now and he was weighed then too and his weight was 6.8kg. He did cry during his injections but I didn’t notice any change in him in the days after them which is good. He did have 3 doses of Calpol as advised now with the new Men B injection bit I didn’t have to give him any further doses.

He is now sleeping through most nights which is brilliant and he usually goes from 8-6 maybe longer some nights.

I am currently feeding him Aptimal hungry baby milk and he likes to eat alot so I thought I would try this to try and make him go longer between feeds but to be honest it hasn’t made any difference. He usually has about 6oz every 2 hours if he is awake but can go alot longer of he is in the car or in his pushchair. I have tried to fees him more ounces than 6 but he doesn’t have it so sticking to that at the moment. The only exception to this is in the morning when he has 8oz for his first bottle of the day after a full nights sleep.

He still will only really sleep on the day if he is in his bouncer being bounced (which again I am doing while I write this blog post!) or if he is in his car seat with his Cocoon Babies car seat wrap. Occasionally he will sleep in his cot, which he did yesterday for over 2 hours so I hope to get this into a daily routine soon if possible.

I think that is all I have to update you on at the moment. I will update again after his next lot of injections as I will get him weighed again then as well.

Here is a little picture of him last week

Oliver’s 7 week update

Hi everyone,

Oliver is now 2 days away from 7 weeks so I thought I would do an update for you.

The health visitor came to see us last week when Oliver was 6 weeks old and he now weighed 13lb 3oz. This is exactly what his brother weighed at 6 weeks as well 🙂

He is eating well usually 4-5fl oz every 2-3 hours. He usually goes to sleep between 9-10 on an evening then sleeps for around 5-6 hours before a feed then another 3-4 hours after this so I’m getting quite a bit of sleep which is good as I don’t function too well on no Sleep!

He is smiling now and smiles the most when you hold him close to your face and call him a gorgeous boy 🙂

For the last couple of days he has had a cough and a snuffly nose but he seems to be OK in himself at the moment. I have purchased some saline nasal spray to use if we need too. I also picked up some snuffle babe but didn’t realise this couldn’t be used until 3 months old!

He has not had his 6-8 check yet or his appointment through for his vaccinations but I’m hoping this comes through soon.

Oliver is now in 0-3 months clothing but they are getting short on the leg already so may have to move up to the next size very soon.

He is a very happy baby and he has now started to have naps on his cot in the day which is alot better than having to bounce him in his bouncer for hours unable to do anything else. He has outgrown his moses basket now so he is now sleeping in his cot in a night time Aswell.

I think that is all I have to update you all on Oliver for now. I will update again in 2 weeks time when hopefully he should have had his check and his vaccinations.

My 6 weeks postpartum update

Hi everyone,

I thought I would do an update on how I am getting on nearly 6 weeks after giving birth.

I had been feeling pretty good up until about 2 weeks ago, I had still been feeling very tired but what new mum doesn’t. My belly has gone down totally now and due to the fact I have not been very well (I will get into this more in a moment) it is almost nearly flat apart from some saggy skin which will probably be there forever! But after 3 children it is expected.

My postpartum bleeding only stopped the other day so that has taken 5 weeks to go which I think is a lot longer than the last 2 pregnancies but I have had to be more active alot quicker this time so that is probably why, I have not been getting as much rest as I probably need but all stopped now which is good.

About 2 weeks ago I developed pain in the middle of my abdomen just below my ribs. This is a pain I have been experiencing on and off for a few years and have had previous diagnosis of a hiatus hernia to then later be told I don’t have one. Well this pain got so bad I went up to A&E and ended up staying in hospital for 4 nights and have finally been given a proper diagnosis of gall stones following an ultrasound. I have been told that I will have to have my gall bladder removed and am awaiting an outpatient appointment through to discuss this.

Apart from that I have been doing good, I have been out of hospital a week now and am slowing getting back to eating normally (before I was admitted to hospital I hadn’t eaten properly for nearly 2 weeks hence the extra weight loss I mentioned earlier!)

I am hoping to get back to running next week but I will be using the couch to 5k app which I used last time and for the first few weeks it’s doesn’t really involve alot of running just fast walking so I think I will be OK with that.

Oliver has been letting me get about 5 hours sleep in a row which is good then another couple of hours after his feed as well so I am slowly getting more sleep which is really helping me keep going when I have the older 2 to deal with as well.

All is going good and it feels like Oliver has always been here 🙂

Oliver’s 4 week update

Hi everyone,

I just thought I would do a quick update on how Oliver is doing 4 weeks after he was born. I am going to do a separate blog post on how I am doing in a few days.

Oliver is doing absolutely great. He is gaining lots of weight. I haven’t had him weighed since 2 weeks old as I have not been very well but you can tell by looking at him he is getting nice and chunky now. I am going to get him weighed hopefully this week so I will update you all on his weight in his next update which will be at 6 weeks.

He is sleeping well now he wakes usually twice in the night. He usually goes to sleep about 8pm and then will wake at 2:30am then falls asleep while having his bottle the usually wakes again around 6am for another and usually goes back to sleep so I can leave him in bed while I get myself and the other 2 ready for the day.

This morning routine seems to be working really well for us at the minute which is great he has just slotted into the family brilliantly 🙂

He is also starting to smile a little bit now, it is not a full proper smile yet but it is not far off Freddie and Isla absolutely adore him and constantly want to kiss and cuddle him which is lovely and he has lots of smiles for them too.

Oliver loves to eat and when he is awake he does nothing but eat! I don’t think he knows what to do if he is not eating and he is awake.

I think that it is for his 4 week update, he is doing great and is just an amazing little man 🙂

For my update check back soon 🙂
