My Birth Story

Hi again everyone,

I thought I would write my birth story for you all while it is still fresh in my mind!

So here we go…. I went to the midwife on Thursday 21st at 11:30 for a sweep as I was 7 days overdue. When the midwife examined me I was very surprised to be told I was already 5cm dilated! She performed the sweep and booked me in for the Sunday for another one if I hadn’t gone into labour by then.

Me and my husband went back home and I got on my ball and bounced away and I started getting contractions though only mild pretty much straight away. My mum was already coming through to see me so we went our for dinner and popped to Debenhams to pick up a blanket for the little man and then the contractions where coming quite regularly every 5 or so minutes but they only felt mildly painful but due to the fact I only just made it to hospital last time I had been told to call the hospital when the contractions where regular but not necessarily painful.

So at 2:30pm I rang the delivery suite and they told me to go in and be examined. We arrived there and I was still only 5cm dilated but the midwife said we could wait there informally for 4 hours and see if I made any progress, we decided to do this so my mum went off to pick the kids up from school and nursery and take them.back to her house and me and my husband went for walks around the hospital and I bounced on a ball. My bump was going solid so was definitely contracting but I still was not feeling alot of pain. I thought after 2 hours I would be going home after examination as to me if felt like nothing was happening at all!

At 6:30pm I was examined again and I had progressed to 7cm, whilst the midwife was examining me she felt me having a contraction but I didn’t even feel it!! They admitted me properly to the delivery suite and a new midwife took over my care. (she was an amazing midwife and funnily enough she started her shift and was in the lift with us as we made our way up to be properly admitted after doing to get my bags from the car.

I was put on the monitor as little man’s heartbeat was a bit fast and the contractions where showing up on the monitor very well and they had started to pick up in pain a little for me too! They progressively increased in intensity over the next few hours. The doctor was called in to check heartbeat trace and he was happy with it but I had a temperature so I was put onto fluids to try and bring it down and also some paracetamol.

At 10:30pm I was examined again and they where going to break my waters but decided to wait a little while. I had progressed to 8cm ans pain was starting to kick in now. I think I started using gas and air about 8:00pm.

After this time I am unsure on times as was concentrating on breathing through the pains. I believe I was ready to push at about 12:00am and he arrived at 12:31am on Friday 22nd January 🙂

This whole birth experience was so much different to my other 2. Apart from the doctors popping in early on, it was so relaxed the midwife just watched from afar and just let me do what my body was telling me to do and because I have given birth before I could tell exactly what was happening with my body as well when it came to the later stage of labour. It was painful obviously and it was all done with just gas and air but it was perfect and he arrived safe and well and he is amazing. 🙂

I stayed on the was till Friday afternoon and my mum and my other 2 children came to meet the little guy and my mother in law came to visit too which was lovely. I then came home and so far he has slotted in to the family like he has always been here.

I hope you enjoyed reading my birth story I have probably missed bits out but I hope I have covered most things for you :).

I have now also added a video to my YouTube channel if you would like to take a look please click on this link My Birth Story Video

Rhyming with Wine

Our Baby Boy Has arrived :)

Hi everyone,

Well at exactly 1 Week overdue our little boy decided it was time to start to make his way into the world although he didn’t actually arrive until 31 minutes into the next day!

He is absolutely perfect and his brother and sister adore him. They have been helping collect things from around the house when we ask them too like nappies and blankets and love to sit and watch him when he is awake. My other son has had a cuddle with him but my daughter has not warmed to that idea yet.

So here is baby Oliver Harry born 22nd January 2016 at 00:31 weighing 9lb 13oz!

I will post my birth story on Wednesday and will also be doing a video on my birth story which I will upload on Wednesday to my channel.

I am also planning on doing a what I actually used from my hospital bags videos and updates on how me and baby Oliver are doing.

Thank you for reading.

33 week pregnancy update

Hi everyone,

I have reached 33 weeks today and am starting to struggle to walk without pain!

I have had 2 B12 injections so far and I have another one tomorrow. I am not sure if they have made any difference.
But I will see how I go after all 3.  I am seeing the midwife next Friday so I am not sure if I will have a blood test to check levels again. Any help on what happens with them would good?!

Yesterday morning I woke up with my daughter in bed with us. She had wet our bed but it didn’t smell like wee so I started to have a slight worry that it could have been my waters, so I rang the midwife and as I couldn’t be 100% sure it was wee they asked me to go in and just have a check to be certain. I had an internal and a test and the doctor didn’t see any signs that they had gone and the test came back negative so all is good there. They also listened to his heartbeat which was good and he was having a massive wiggle around while she was listening. He is also head down.

Another thing that happened yesterday was the pain I felt walking back to the car after school run. It felt like his head was so low and I could hardly walk I was having to waddle. I couldn’t get up off the settee very easily and going up and down the stairs was fun as well! This lasted until school run tonight and he seems to have moved again now as the pain has subsided a little.

That is all that has been going on in the last week with me and baby boy 🙂

I will update you all at 35 weeks and I also have my hospital bag video and blog post to put up next week as well.

29 Week Pregnancy Update

Hi everyone,

I just thought I would do you a little update at 29 weeks. I am starting to feel very big! I had my midwife appointment last week and all was good, I am measuring a week over at the moment and I am struggling to walk around some days which is new to me in pregnancy as with my other 2 I was still very active but I am starting to waddle a little now and have to walk very slow! Who knows what I’m going to be like when I get even bigger! I don’t know if it’s because he has been so low the last week or so that is making me not able to walk much but we shall see how we go 🙂

I only have 5 weeks left at work which is 14 working days including today and I have 2 weeks off on my own before the children break up for Christmas so I am hoping I can get organised for Christmas and baby boy arriving during this time so I can relax while they are off!

I don’t have another midwife appointment for 5 weeks unless I need to see them for any reason so I will update you with size of bump and how we are doing then but I will update in 2 weeks time as well.

We have finally picked a pushchair which is great we are going for the cosatto giggle in moonwood. I think it is a great pattern for a winter baby and I can’t wait to order it. I still have a few bits to buy but my mother in law is getting us a bouncy chair and i have asked for a moses basket for Christmas as can’t think of anything else I would like for me! I think that leaves us with just small things to get such as sheets for cot and moses basket and a few more blankets and I still have bits to get for me for hospital bag as well but I hope to pick some of these bits up when I go shopping with my mum for her birthday next week 🙂

Well I think that’s it I have rambled on for long enough now 🙂

Baby boy haul

Hi everyone!

I thought I would do another haul post. All this was actually a gift from my mum and I love it all.

The first thing I saw when I first got pregnant this time round and my mum remembered and got us one. It is from Tuppence and Crumble and they are on Not on the Highstreet. It is so cute and I can’t wait for him to be snuggled up in it in his carrycot and carseat :).

The next thing is also from Not on the Highstreet from harrymecom.com I love this little comforter and I hope the little man will too.

Again this item is from Not on the Highstreet. These leggings are great and my son loves them and can’t wait for his brother to wear them 🙂 these are by Blade & Rose.

These next bits are all from Next and the muslin cloths are from B&M Bargains.

My other 2 children had Next baby grows and I love them they wash really well and I love that I have the matching hats to go with them :). I am going to take the elephant set into hospital with me so they will be some of the first bits he wears. I have never used next vests but I’m sure they will be as good as the rest of the baby clothes are from Next. All the items are in up to 1 month and this is the same as what my son and daughter first wore as well so should be perfect :).

The last thing we got was a baby bath. It’s a nice small one and my mum said it has alot of good reviews on Amazon so looking forward to giving it a try. It is a tippitoes ones.

That’s everything and I love it all and as I have said I can’t wait to use it :).
