Isla was in desperate need of some new shoes to go with her minnie mouse costume that she was going to be wearing for Children in Need Spotacular at school so I decided to take to eBay and have a … Continue reading →
We have been weaning baby ollie now since 4 months so I thought it was time to write a post on how we are getting on.
When we started him on his first foods I purchased a packet of Ellas Kitchen banana baby rice which he absolutely loved. We gave him a small bowl once a day with his dinner time bottle to start with and then we put this up to dinner and tea.
for another week. From there he then went on to have 3 meals a day which is where we are currently at.
He tends to have a powdered porridge in the morning which can be any variety depending on what is on offer when I do the weekly shop. He will also have a bottle with his breakfast as well and this is a 6oz bottle.
For dinner and tea he has a variety of things but he is now having a main and a dessert! I have powdered meals in as well as jars and again these can be any brand, I pick up loads of different ones for hin to try. For dessert he has either a jar of some sort or a fruity pot.
I have just moved him onto follow on milk as well as of last night and have moved him onto HIPP Organic as have heard alot of really good things about their milk.
In the next few weeks I am hoping to introduce more finger foods and meals that he can eat with the whole family. I am currently looking through Pinterest for recipe ideas. I did pick up some of the Kiddylicious wafers last time I did a shop as they where on offer at Tesco but he doesn’t seem very keen on these at the moment!
He is doing brilliantly at the moment and absolutely loved his food (as does the rest of his family hehe!) I also did a video on how we are getting on. If you would like to take a look please pop over to my YouTube Channel.
We decided to wean Ollie at 4 months as he was always wanting milk but he was sicking alot up so we started him on the porridge and then he didn’t take on so much milk which helped with him sicking loads back up.
I don’t plan to have him on purees for much longer as he is 6 months in a couple of weeks so as I said above I will introduce our meals and get him eating what we do as soon as I can.
I will do an update in a month so I can let you know how we are getting on with introducing other foods.
I also post regularly on Instagram and Twitter so for more updates please pop over and follow me there :). I have also set up a Facebook page recently too.
I have been back to running now for 5 weeks so I thought I would do a little update on how I am getting on.
I started the first couple of weeks by myself but by week 3 I had recruited my friend to run with me and I am finding is so much better to get motivated having someone to go with.
We have been running Monday, Wednesday and Friday which has been working well around our families and anything else we have going on.
At the end of week 5 we had our longest run yet which was 20 minutes non stop running which we found hard but we managed it so we were very proud of ourselves :).
I am feeling so much better in myself and am so glad to be back to my running and can’t wait to make it to 10k which I never quite made it to 10k last time as I fell pregnant and didn’t carry on.
We are now on week 6 and have done day 1 today which went well. We did 5 min run, 3 min walk, 8 min run, walk 3 min then 5 min run with a 5 min warm up and cool down walk.
I am going to try and update every week with how we get on and what runs we have done in the week. I am also hoping to enter us in a 10k race later on in the year and when we are up to 5k in a couple of weeks I am going to start the parkrun again on a Saturday morning as I used to really enjoy this 🙂
So that is where we are up to, thank you for reading.
I have just added a video on my YouTube channel about my best newborn baby buys and I thought I would share them here too!
First up is the Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep Machine. This is an amazing machine and makes bottles in around 2 minutes. It is especially useful for night feeds and makes the bottles to the perfect temperature.
Another this I love is Oliver’s Cocoon Baby car seat wrap. This is so cosy and he doesn’t have to wear a coat when he is in it so makes him safer in his car seat as well. Oliver will always fall asleep and stay asleep when he is in so I think he loves it as much as mummy does :).
My mum got us a baby bath and this has a support in it. Oliver loves having a bath and as it has the support he can enjoy a nice relaxing bath while I have my hands free so i can deal with his brother and sister who are usually in the bath at the same time.
The pushchair we have is the Quinny Buzz Xtra and its great, we had a Quinny Buzz 3 with Freddie and it is basically the same with a few changes but a fab sturdy pushchair. We also have the Maxi Cosi Pebble car seat which again is nice and sturdy and easy to put into the car using the car seat.
Oliver loves his bouncer (as long as you are bouncing him which I am currently doing with my foot while writing this!) He has the Fisher price Rainforest Friends bouncer.
I would definitely recommend baby sleeping bags for bed time. You know they are not going to be able to kick them off so they will never get cold from having no blankets on and when they have a feed in the night they can stay nice and snug too 🙂
Those are my main must have baby buys so far, here is a link to them all and also a link to the video if you would like some more detail on each item.
I am going to be doing a review on our pushchair and car seat separate to this video and blog so please keep a look out for them.
Well today I am officially 3 days overdue and am starting to wonder if this little man will ever make an appearance?!
We have now put hospital bags in the car as it should be any day now and we are all ready for him so it’s just a waiting game really.
I have been going for walks and trying to stay as active as possible but some days I end up having 2-3 hour naps as I have not been able to sleep in a night time as well as usual.
I have not really had any signs that anything might be happening soon. I have had some slight back ache and he feels very low at times but that’s about it really!
Here is my bump from Thursday at 40 weeks.
I hope that my next update will be a birth announcement but if not it will be a 41 week update. I have a sweep booked in for Thursday with the midwife if he doesnt arrive by then which I have not had before as narrowly missed it with my daughter as she was born at 40+6.
Thank you for reading and I will keep you updated.
