Couch to 10k week 5 update

Hi everyone,

I have been back to running now for 5 weeks so I thought I would do a little update on how I am getting on.

I started the first couple of weeks by myself but by week 3 I had recruited my friend to run with me and I am finding is so much better to get motivated having someone to go with.

We have been running Monday, Wednesday and Friday which has been working well around our families and anything else we have going on.

At the end of week 5 we had our longest run yet which was 20 minutes non stop running which we found hard but we managed it so we were very proud of ourselves :).

I am feeling so much better in myself and am so glad to be back to my running and can’t wait to make it to 10k which I never quite made it to 10k last time as I fell pregnant and didn’t carry on.

We are now on week 6 and have done day 1 today which went well. We did 5 min run, 3 min walk, 8 min run, walk 3 min then 5 min run with a 5 min warm up and cool down walk.

I am going to try and update every week with how we get on and what runs we have done in the week. I am also hoping to enter us in a 10k race later on in the year and when we are up to 5k in a couple of weeks I am going to start the parkrun again on a Saturday morning as I used to really enjoy this 🙂

So that is where we are up to, thank you for reading.

  1. Wow you are doing so well. You deserve to be really proud of yourself. I admire anyone who has the motivation to start running, especially with such otherwise busy lives! #BigPinkLink

  2. Well done you for getting out there and getting the trainers on, week 5- brill! I really need to take a leaf out of your book, but my trainers are elusive, haha #coolmumclub

  3. Sounds like you are doing great. I’ve really missed running since falling pregnant, not because I love running as such but because I love the virtuous feeling afterwards, and it’s so easy to just go out and run. Definitely recommend you sign up for a 10K race, I’ve always found that having a specific goal ahead makes it easier to “keep on running”! Running the Manchester 10K next year is my post pregnancy goal – bump caused me to watch from the sidelines this year and I really missed it. #coolmumclub

    • Definitely I did my first Park run yesterday and managed to run the whole thing and haven’t run 5k for well over a year! I am currently looking at 10k’s to sign up for. That sounds like a fab goal. When are you due? 🙂 xx
